What's Your Job?
I have said it before and I will say it again (often): I am not the only Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Greater Life Church. God has this habit of taking His ministers and dressing them up like teachers, merchants, business people, secretaries, cops, students, retirees, etc. In fact, everyone who has called on Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins, has also been called by Jesus to do the work He created you to do before the foundations of the earth. God said: “ No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light”. Luke 8:16 (ESV).
You have a job to do. If you do not know what that Christian Job is – let me tell you. Your job is to find out what your job is. If you know what your job is – DO IT! Understand one thing: on the surface, your job in Christ my not seem very ‘spiritual’, but being a good employee, a good supervisor, a good citizen is a very spiritual act of worship.
Think of it this way; by being a good employee, you enjoy a good reputation with everyone you work with. Once they know you are a Christian, that good reputation extends to God. How many times have you heard someone say something like; “well, if THAT is what being a Christian is like, I want nothing to do with God.” They may not say the opposite, but it does occur to them. You don’t have to quote Scripture at every turn, but if you have a habit of living it and especially at work, it causes people to give God a second thought.
That makes you a missionary
